4 Fun Ways to Upcycle Your Empty Jars & Bottles
Wow ...one year into this pandemic and dang, many of us are still at home. Sometimes it's fine being able to stay in PJs, not having to commute, but we all need an escape to take our minds off the state of the world. When we’ve done our home facial regimen, binged through Netflix, reorganized our pantries, fed the sourdough starter, and bottled our Kombucha…. we may need more.
One of the reasons we moved to glass packaging is for its usefulness. We hope that you find second and even third lives for your jars. We came up with four great uses for your empty Amanda Ross Skin Care jars and bottles. What do you do with your amber glass jars and bottles after you have used your products up? 2. Massage Candles
We used soy wax flakes, cocoa butter, and our Elemi Elixer.
You need to buy the soy wax flakes, cocoa butter, and candle wicks ( we bought them all online at Bulk Apothecary).
We were able to fill one 4 oz Jar ( body butter and large Rose Geranium) and a few smaller jars (all the masks and both Marula Kiss and Rose Geranium) with the following amounts:
5 oz Soy Wax Flakes
1 oz Cocoa Butter
4 Tbsp of Elimi Elixer
Secure the wicks in place by melting a tiny bit of the wax and placing it in the middle of the inside of the jar.
Melt the soy wax flakes and cocoa butter in a double boiler, then add the Elimi Elixer.
Pour into “wicked” jars. You may need to prop the wick in place w/ chopsticks or clothespins.
Let the candle harden completely before lighting it.
Light the candle and let it burn for 10-15 minutes until a bit of wax is melted. Blow out the candle and pour the melted wax/oils into your hand or dip your finger into the candle to use. You have a lovely, warm and thick massage oil to work with. Use on especially dry areas, like the elbows…Yum Yum.
Enjoy your massage!
